The Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment (CAPE) is happy to report Ontario's pesticide ban is a success!
A new Ministry of Environment study shows concentrations of pesticides in Ontario's urban streams have dropped 80 per cent since the implementation of a provincial ban on the use and sale of lawn and garden pesticides.
This is exciting news for all Canadians, who will now have less exposure to these chemicals which are linked to cancers, birth defects and neurological illness.
This study quantifies the success of the pesticide ban and shows the legislation has had a real and immediate impact on our ecosystems, which can affect our health.
Thank you to all our supporters who took the time to sign petitions, call or write their MPPs, or contribute financially to our campaign. Together, we made a real difference!
